WOSlogo_transparentThe 3rd annual Weekend of Songs: Songwriters Festival packed 12 local and regional featured performers into three days of celebrating songs and songwriters Aug. 16-18, 2013 at the Local Blend in St. Joseph, Minn.

Featured acts for this year’s roster included: Weekend of Songs co-founders Adam Hammer and Dave Cofell, Mark Hasbrouck (Surahoolies, Pachanga Society), Drew Peterson (40 Watt Bulb, The Dead Pigeons), Paul Spring (Mister), Dylan McFarling (Mister), Paul Jensen, Gibbie Hibbies, Nicole Mykkanen and more.

Other festival highlights included songwriters meet-ups/workshop on Saturday morning, an open mic and the 2nd 18-Hour Songwriters Challenge. The meet-up/workshop focused on DIY recording, distribution and marketing with featured performer Nathan Edwards who is an assistant professor of audio production at Dakota State University in Madison, S.D. John Larson won the songswriters challenge that featured songs in the theme of “Read a book (turn off the TV).”
